Shadwell Basin Project
Learn to sail or powerboat safely in the heart of London. Shadwll have been providing RYA courses at their Centre for many years and have a reputation for high quality teaching, friendly atmosphere and a fantastic location on the River Thames. By taking a course at an RYA recognised training centre such as Shadwell you can be assured of being taught by trained and experienced instructors using suitable boats, supervision ratios and following the RYA syllabus. Our courses are run both on the sheltered waters of Shadwell Basin and on the more challenging waters of the River Thames, depending on weather and tidal conditions.
Dinghy Sailing
The RYA’s National Sailing Scheme is a series of courses for those wanting to learn to sail in dinghies. Most of our courses take place on the tidal waters of the River Thames. The Centre’s fleet of craft are permanently moored on the river, which allows easy access for sailing at varying states of the tide. Our qualified and experienced instructors will introduce you to this historic stretch of water & enable you to enjoy the experience to the full.
Power-boating
The RYA’s National Powerboat Scheme is for those who use sportsboats, RIBs or other powerboats for leisure or work, whether for fun or in connection with another activity such as sailing or rescue. The scheme comprises a series of practical courses which can be used simply to increase your knowledge and confidence, or as a progression to the RYA/MCA Certificates of Competence which are recognised by maritime authorities worldwide.
