RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore 
Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course.
This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques.
This course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation, meteorology skills. & collision regs
As with the Day Skipper shorebased course, the RYA’s specially designed chart plotter software will be used during the course to give you a realistic taste of modern electronic navigation.
The course is taught over a minimum of 40 hours with three exam papers. It can be covered as an evening class or a series of short sessions, as an intensive course, or combined with a practical course*
Course topics include:
position fixing    course shaping and plotting   tidal knowledge
use of almanacs and admiralty publications  electronic position finding equipment
taking and interpreting forecasts  plotting weather systems
weather predictions using a barometer and by observation   collision regulations
customs and excise regulations for cruising abroad

Coastal Skipper / Yacht-master (part 2)
A more advanced course in navigation and meteorology suitable for students who have already completed the elementary course, or who have a background of sailing, motor cruising or offshore racing experience.
The course is definitely not suitable for beginners                        Fees £ 260.00

General; course will start early October and aim to finish for Easter 2012 will be one evening a week (Tuesday ) 7.00-9.15

We strongly recommend an evening class type delivery where there is sufficient time to think about and assimilate the information and concepts being discussed also to complete all the RYA exercises in the student work pack gaining you real ownership of the substance of the course.
